Lane Closures Scheduled On Long Island Expressway In Nassau

Upcoming detours have been scheduled on the Long Island Expressway over the course of several days.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced that there will be overnight detours on the LIE in Nassau County in the Town of North Hempstead and Oyster Bay to facilitate a bridge cleaning project.

According to officials, traffic will be detoured onto the Service Road between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the following dates in these locations:

  • Monday, May 2: Eastbound at Exit 39 (Glen Cove Road);
  • Tuesday, May 3: Westbound at Exit 40 (State Route 25);
  • Wednesday, May 4: Eastbound at Exit 39;
  • Thursday, May 5: Westbound at Exit 41N (State Route 106/107).

“Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones,” NYSDOT officials stated. “Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. 

“Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.”
